During his frequent saloon visits about a century ago, the legendary gourmand Diamond Jim Brady probably encountered a wine opener like this. In that era of mechanical inventiveness, it was called the "Champion Cork Removal System"--by any name, a thing of beauty and a joy forever. First manufactured in 1897, the design was replicated a century later. A nickel-plated model, this opener is ornamented with a vine-and-flower design from the Jacobean period between Elizabethan and Renaissance styles. It clamps to an antiqued steel arm that attaches to a solid base (Rogar also offers a table stand that works perfectly). Place any wine bottle--standard or flange top--into the opener, grip the clamps, pull the walnut handle, and in one second, the cork pops out. Recorking a bottle takes only a second, also. --Fred Brack The Rogar Champion Wine Opener is a re-creation of the original Champion first produced in 1897. Even the original artwork featuring a Jacobean vine and flower design has been duplicated.

This Rogar Champion opener is plated with an Nickel Plated finish. It can be attached to a shelf or bar, or to the optional stand shown in the second picture.
